We’re thrilled to share an exciting update about the feature that truly sets Therabyte apart, and highlights Therabyte as the only budget friendly and Goal Focused EMR on the market.

When we built Therabyte, our mission was clear: to create a tool that not only keeps practitioners organized but also empowers them to provide consistent and goal focused client care, while also saving time with efficient documentation. From this vision, Smart Trees was born.

Smart Trees is more than just a feature; it’s a method for goal tracking that integrates seamlessly into your session notes. With it, you’ll experience:

Minimized documentation redundancies from one session to the next

Easy reporting with auto generated summaries

In late 2024, we did an overhaul of this feature. Keep reading to learn more about what Smart Trees are and why you need them in your client documentation.

What Are Smart Trees?

Smart Trees is a Therabyte feature created to simplify goal setting, treatment planning, and progress tracking for practitioners. It uses a TREE metaphor to make the process intuitive and effective:

Trees hold all data for a treatment plan.

Branches group related goals and track progress.

Leaves represent specific goals, which can be marked as completed, in progress, or inactive for easy tracking.

Why Use Smart Trees?

Smart Trees streamline your workflow by combining efficiency with customization. With Smart Trees, you can:

Save Time: Create reusable goal templates tailored to your practice, eliminating the need to sift through previous session notes to select goals for each session.

Track Progress: Monitor real-time data effortlessly, keeping you informed every step of the way.

Enhance Collaboration: Share progress seamlessly with clients and their families via the client portal and quickly generate downloadable reports when needed.

We’ve made several exciting updates to improve usability, flexibility, and reporting. Here’s what’s new:

Status Enhancements

Set a Tree to inactive, moving it out of sight while maintaining the current statuses of its branches and leaves.

Set Branches to On Hold or Discontinued, automatically pausing/discontinuing all its Leaves except those marked as Mastered or in Maintenance.

Set a Leaf to On Hold or Discontinued, hiding the leaves along with mastered items.

These updates clean up the visual display, so you’re always focused on the most current and relevant goals for each client.

Increased Flexibility

Manually adjust Leaf statuses for individual sessions, with an option to apply changes to all future sessions.
All status changes are logged in the client chart modal for easy tracking.

Improved Usability

Rename and remove the Default Tree for better customization.
Manually add or remove data directly from the client chart modal.

Smarter Reporting

The redesigned Smart Trees Summary Report PDF makes it easier to view and visualize client progress. It’s also more shareable with clients, parents and other practitioners.
